Weekend Fun 52: Nixon had Watergate, Binay has Dasma Gate

Two jokes from Jim Paredes, a famous Filipino singer, posted in his facebook wall:

(1) Nixon had Watergate. Binay has Dasma gate

(2) Attention Napocor, Meralco: Habang kulang ng power sa buong Pilipinas, may excessive power surge sa Makati! :-)

The Binay family is the longest-reigning, most politically influential in Makati City, the financial capital of the Philippines. Currently in power are Vice President Jojo Binay, daughter Sen. Nancy Binay, another daughter Congresswoman Abby Binay, and son Makati Mayor Junjun Binay. The wife of the VP was also a former Mayor of Makati.

Last November 30 this year, an incident happened inside Dasmarinas Village, Makati City. Before 12 midnight, Mayor Junjun and his backup vehicles wanted to get out of the Banyan gate, fronting Mckinley Road. Dasma village security guards that night did not allow him to exit. The policy is by 10pm, minor gates like Banyan, Lumbang and Mantrade gates, entry only for cars with Dasma village resident sticker, but even residents cannot exit there. They must use the two main gates at Palm Ave. and Pasay Road.

The Mayor and his security insisted that they should get out of that gate, a stand off occurred. The guards at the gate called more guards while the Mayor called the Makati police. Pinoy humor kicks in, as usual, with these photos, all posted in facebook. The "real reason" why the Mayor could not get out of the gate -- Gandalf stopped them. :-)

During the brief stand off, a guard of the Mayor was caught on CCTV loading bullets in his gun and went to the village security guards. Scenes like this attracted public anger, as expected. Mayabang, arogante.

When the Makati police came, they forced open the bar, then dragged the three village security to the police station. Earlier report from the Inquirer said the 3 guards were dragged then detained for four hours before being allowed to go back to the village.

One beauty of CCTVs. They allow the photos and videos to speak for themselves.

Meanwhile, two more jokes from Jim Paredes:

(3) 'There are people bent on putting my family's name in bad light.' – Nancy Binay

Ay naku Mam, Totoo yan. Kilala ko sila. Si Jojo, JunJun, Nancy, Elenita, Abigail daw ang mga pangalan..

(4) Let’s not make a big deal about it. It was only a Christmas get-together between the guards & bodyguards. Mayor was even invited. Notice the Christmas lights? The giveaway were umbrelas. The PNP upon hearing about the occasion joined in..

Case closed!

Ang pamilya. Bow.

Climate Tricks 13: Block Skeptics and Keep Fooling the Public

One common practice of the man-made warming leaders and campaigners is to block off people who often question their religion. I have confirmed that once more two days ago when I checked my twitter account. I have observed earlier that after questioning several tweets by Greenpeace Philippines, they blocked me from following them, I posted it here, Greenpeace is Blocking You, November 19, 2011.

When I checked again last Monday, this is the result.

Cowards, as usual. They only need people who will pat them in the back as "planet saviors". Well, at least I sent them this tweet, "cowards in debates..."

Another cousin or sibling in cowardice but sibling in climate alarmism and noise is the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), their WWF-Philippine office also blocked me. No tears guys, sorry.

Oh, the perennial Philippine "climate negotiator" for two decades or more, Dean of the Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), Atty. Tony La Vina, also do not like me questioning his "save the planet" mantra. But at least I sent this tweet to him, "Warming fanatics blocking me..."

Population Control 7: I am Supporting the RH bill

Yes, I am supporting the government-sponsored population control measure aka the Reproductive Health (RH) bill. PROVIDED that government will also cut or discontinue some of its existing but ineffective social programs.

As of July 2011, there were an estimated 37.11 million employed Filipinos. We assume that all of them are taxpayers, directly or indirectly. This year, interest payment alone (principal amortization not included) of the national government will be P357 billion. This means that each employed person in this country would fork out something like P9,622 of taxes for interest payment alone this year. Then they have to fork out more taxes to sustain the millions of bureaucracies from the local to national government agencies, up to the multilateral and foreign aid bodies like the UN, WB and ADB who all live off on tax money.

I read that with or without the RH bill, the DOH has already alloted some P7 billion for reproductive health-related spending. People are liabilities, the government and the RH bill supporters say, so their number should be reduced by giving couples various "options and choices" to plan their household size. Never mind the taxpayers including those who have no kids, they have no choice whether to support or opt out of these new spending.

Meanwhile, a friend in facebook posted something like this after Pacquiao's split decision victory over Marquez two weeks ago:

Manny Pacquiao, you now believe in "MAJORITY DECISION." Perhaps you know now the statement from the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey this year, "that 73% of Filipinos want to get information on all legal methods of family planning (FP) from the government and that 68% wants the government to fund all means of family planning." That's majority decision.

And I replied to him, :And if you ask also the people, 'Do you want subsidized or free healthcare and housing, subsidized or free train ride and jeepney fare, subsidized or free cell phones and electricity, subsidized or free farm tractor and fishing boats, etc., government will fully fund those subsidies?', I think 90-100% of them will say Yes. Majority decision too."

Below are some data from Dr. Jop Yap of PIDS. This is part of his paper delivered during the Philippine Economic Society (PES) conference a few weeks ago. I thanked Jop for sharing with me his data.

See the low working age / dependents ratio in Singapore, Thailand, China and Korea? This should be directly or indirectly related to their past population control policies. Soon, their oldies will be needing robots and migrant workers to take care of them as the number of their young population is small in relation to the oldies.
